The Great Big Builds!
By the end of 2024, WoRD had grown. We had been running in our Garden of Earthly Delights home for 2 years, transforming thousands of kilograms of timber waste into amazing things and delivering hundreds of hours of beginner-friendly workshops.
But it was coming into winter, and we had noticed a need.
Our timber stocks were starting to suffer in our outdoor workshop, and participants were shivering as they worked in the drizzle and cold. Plus, all of the spiders had moved into the toilet for hibernation, making our already 'rough and ready' loo less enjoyable for garden guests.
We really needed an upgrade... and that's when we launched our crowdfunder!
We needed to raise £10,000 to cover the costs of building two desperately needed structures for both WoRD and the GED:
an undercover woodworking workshop...
...and a new compost toilet!
After several weeks of fundraising, and with the support of dozens of incredibly generous backers from our community, we reached our target and began work on the Great Big Builds!
